With its multiple formats and standards, HD Analog brings with it its own set of acronyms and other jargon. Here are some of the more common HD Analog terms and their explanations.

HDcctv

A set of HD standards developed and defined by the HDcctv Alliance. The HDcctv standards are based upon the broadcast industry’s standards for digital serial transmission of uncompressed HDTV signals over coaxial cable.

HD Analog

HD Analog is a video security technology that enables you to transmit up to 1280x720 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080p) full high-definition (HD) video over standard coaxial cables that are used in traditional analog CCTV surveillance systems. HD Analog includes several different formats including: HD-SDI, AHD, HD-CVI and HD-TVI.

High-Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI)

HD-SDI analog was the first HD analog technology introduced to the video security market. HD-SDI analog technology is based on the HDcctv 1.0 standard. HD-SDI analog is capable of transmitting 720p or 1080p resolution video using existing standard coaxial cable that is used with traditional analog CCTV surveillance systems. HD-SDI cameras require HD-SDI recorders to record video.

Analog HD (AHD)

Analog High Definition (AHD) is an alternative standard for HD data transmission solution utilized by NextChip and Eyenix. AHD includes AHD 1.0 Tx/Rx. AHD 1.0 TX and RX are capable of transmitting 720p @ 25 fps / 30 fps while minimizing data loss and supporting COMET & CVBS simultaneously.

High-Definition Composite Video Interface (HD-CVI)

HD-CVI (also written as HDCVI) is a proprietary HD analog technology from Dahua. HD-CVI transmits HD standard non-latent video over RG59 analog coaxial cabling for long-distance transmission of HD video up to 1,600' at 720p or 1,300' at 1080p.

High-Definition Transport Video Interface (HD-TVI)

HD-TVI analog is the latest generation of HD analog technology. HD-TVI transmits zero-latency 1080p full-HD video over standard RG59 coax cabling up to 1600’.

High-Definition Video

High-Definition (HD) Video is of higher-resolution and quality than Standard Definition (SD) video. HD video is classified as video with more than at least 480 horizontal lines of resolution and includes 720p and 1080p full-HD.

720p / 1080p

720p is HD video comprised of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p). 1080p is HD video comprised of 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p). 1080p is also referred to as “Full-HD.” Coaxial Cable A type of cable (including RG59 and Cat5), that is capable of transferring a wide range of frequencies with very low signal loss.

Zero-Latency

Zero-latency video is video transmitted without lag time. The live video you see is actual real-time video, without any delay.
