DMR91U - 8 Channel Networkable DVR
This is a fair, basic DVR for the money. Quality is good, the interface is easy to figure out and the menus are straightforward. I like the ability to log in via HTTP and also via remote and worked through my Linksys firewall/router with port-forwarding. Android exists, but hard to get working.
The local HTTP menu set up is much better than the one when directly connected via SVGA. But, the organization is entirely different.
The local camera quality is very nice.
Some specific issues:
1.) I'd like to be able to find firmware updates as it appears the users manual online is quite different than the ones my device has. There is no way to find firmware updates
2.) I understand that SC has an iPhone app on its web site, and says it supports Android, but there is no suggestion as to what this is. In fact, of the 8 various apps that I tried, only one finally worked, MEye. The others could not interface, despite having a "Supercircuits DVR" model selection. SC support staff were VERY unhelpful and not knowlegable. Ie., thre different tech support staff had three different responses. I get that they cannot support this entirely, but a little knowlege would be helpful
3.) DVR playback is crude and while it exists, it is not as good as a $299 4 chanel DVR I purchased elsewhere. It has no dynamic preview and its hard and klugey to search backwards on various dates. Love to see a firmware update fo this. This was a MAJOR drawback along with record motion detection issues below
4.) Camera record sensitivity is grossly inadequate. Normal sensitivity records everything and low sensitivity records nothing. Also, there is supposed to be a detect area set up, but it does not function. Nothing happens when I select "select record area". As such, when I set for e-mail notification, I either get nothing and wonder what I am missing, or get inundated by e-mails.
Overall, I probably would not buy again and spend a little more, but, the jump in cost on SC is big. Michael
